    Little Blessings Daycare Curriculum Overview
At Little Blessings Daycare, our mission is to provide a nurturing and enriching learning environment that supports the whole child—academically, socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. We follow the Gee Whiz Curriculum, which emphasizes learning through play, hands-on experiences, age-appropriate instruction, and exploration. Our program serves children from infancy through school age and is thoughtfully designed to promote growth across multiple developmental domains.

    Core Curriculum Areas

    Preschool Math

We lay a strong foundation in early math skills through engaging, play-based learning experiences:

Patterns: Children explore repeating and growing patterns to enhance sequencing and prediction skills.

Sorting & Categorizing: Activities involve grouping objects by size, color, shape, and other attributes.

Counting & Number Recognition: Children develop one-to-one correspondence and number sense through games and real-world scenarios.

Introduction to Addition & Subtraction: Using hands-on tools and storytelling, we introduce early math operations in a fun, accessible way.

Measurement Concepts: Children compare and measure length, weight, and volume using everyday items.

Graphing: Simple bar and picture graphs are introduced to represent data visually.

Colors, Shapes, and Spatial Awareness: We teach geometry basics and positional vocabulary to build spatial understanding.

    Language & Literacy Development

We support early literacy by building vocabulary, phonemic awareness, and expressive language skills:

Rhyming & Phonological Awareness: Rhymes and word games strengthen listening and language patterns.

Phonics & Letter Recognition: We introduce the relationship between letters and sounds to support reading readiness.

Early Literacy: Daily reading time, story retelling, and sight word practice promote comprehension and a love of books.

Writing Skills: Children learn to write their names, letters, and simple words with proper formation techniques.

Sounds, Syllables, and Blending: Pre-reading strategies include sound identification and simple word blending.

Listening & Communication: Structured activities develop focused listening, following directions, and expressing thoughts clearly.

Thematic Learning: Topics of the Month

Each month, we explore a central theme (e.g., dinosaurs, community helpers, weather, bears). These themes are integrated into all learning domains and guide our:

    Fine and gross motor activities

    Art and sensory projects

    Science and dramatic play experiences

    Science & Discovery

Science learning is woven into daily routines to foster inquiry and exploration:

Hands-on experiments and observations help children understand natural phenomena.

Science lessons develop critical thinking, organizational skills, and curiosity.

Children learn to ask questions, test ideas, and make sense of the world around them.

    Character Education

We incorporate character development as a key element of our curriculum:

Weekly lessons focus on values such as honesty, kindness, responsibility, love, and respect.

Stories, role-play, and group discussions help children internalize positive behavior.

Character education builds empathy and lays the groundwork for ethical decision-making.

    Music & Movement

Music plays a vital role in cognitive and emotional growth:

Children enjoy singing, dancing, and playing instruments to enhance rhythm, coordination, and memory.

Musical activities strengthen language development, creativity, and group collaboration.

Participation in music builds self-esteem and emotional expression.

    Outdoor Play & Games

We value the importance of physical activity and play-based learning outdoors:

Daily outdoor play encourages gross motor development, balance, and coordination.

Group games and challenges promote teamwork, problem-solving, and sportsmanship.

Outdoor exploration also supports creativity and a sense of wonder about nature.

    Bible Education & Spiritual Growth

Faith is integrated into our daily routine through age-appropriate biblical teachings:

Children learn about God’s love, friendship, making kind choices, and the life of Jesus.

Stories, songs, and activities help instill values such as sharing, forgiveness, and compassion.

Bible lessons support character development and encourage a spirit of giving and gratitude.

    Our Approach

At Little Blessings Daycare, we believe that children learn best when they feel safe, loved, and inspired. Our curriculum is guided by:

Play-Based Learning: Opportunities to explore, create, and experiment through open-ended activities.

Developmentally Appropriate Practices: Lessons are tailored to meet the individual needs and abilities of each child.

Whole-Child Focus: We nurture every aspect of a child’s development—academic, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual.

Our goal is to prepare children for a successful transition into elementary school and beyond, equipped with the knowledge, confidence, and character they need to thrive.

  • Little Blessings History

    Introduction
Little Blessings Daycare is more than a childcare center—it is a reflection of faith, love, and purpose, deeply rooted in the heart of its founder, Mrs. Country. What began in March 2002 as a small home-based effort to provide for her family and homeschool her seven children has blossomed into a thriving, faith-filled center that serves and uplifts families throughout the community. This is the story of how one woman’s commitment to her family and calling grew into a place where countless children are nurtured, taught, and deeply loved.

    The Early Years
In the early 2000s, Mrs. Country faced a challenge familiar to many parents—balancing financial needs with the desire to remain present in her children’s lives. A devoted mother of seven, she sought a way to contribute to her family's income without stepping away from her role as a homeschooling parent. That need, coupled with her natural gift for nurturing children, led her to open her living room to two little ones in need of care.

Word quickly spread about the warmth and attentiveness found in her home. Two children became four, then six, then eight. As her home filled with laughter, play, and milestones—first steps, first words, the joy of learning to count or write a name—so did her heart. What began as a practical solution slowly revealed itself to be a deep, personal calling.

    A Calling Confirmed by Faith
Three years into this journey, Mrs. Country recognized that what she had begun wasn’t just a business—it was a mission. She saw her role as more than a caregiver; she was a nurturer of minds, hearts, and spirits. With the steadfast support of her husband, Marty, and their children, she expanded her vision by converting their garage into a larger, dedicated space, allowing her to care for up to fifteen children.

This act of faith was not just about physical expansion—it was a spiritual commitment. She believed, and still believes, that every child placed in her care is there for a reason. Her desire to share the love of Jesus and plant seeds of kindness, faith, and confidence in young hearts became the driving force behind every decision.

    Growth Rooted in Love
As families experienced the care and values that defined Little Blessings, the demand grew. Parents shared their gratitude, and referrals poured in. The love and trust built between Mrs. Country and the families she served became the foundation for the next big step: opening a fully licensed center. It was a leap of faith—both exciting and daunting—but guided by her deep conviction that God had a greater purpose for Little Blessings.

Today, many of the children who once curled up for story time in her living room have grown alongside her. Some are now returning as older students or even staff—living proof of the lifelong impact this home-grown center has had on their lives.

    Conclusion
The story of Little Blessings Daycare is one of unwavering faith, heartfelt service, and the quiet power of beginning with what you have. What started as a small act of necessity grew into a lifelong ministry. Through every phase of growth, Mrs. Country’s heart remained the same—to provide a safe, loving space where children could flourish academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.

At the core of it all is the belief that children deserve more than care—they deserve to be seen, heard, and loved. With the enduring support of her husband, Marty, who has stood by her every step of the way, Mrs. Country continues to pour her heart into the lives of each child who walks through the doors of Little Blessings. Her journey reminds us that the most beautiful things often grow from the most humble beginnings—and that love, faith, and purpose can transform a dream into a legacy.
